Effective 30 September 2026
Privacy Policy
This policy describes how faerdi processes personal data in its mobile app and related services.
In short: Trip information is stored on your device. If you sign in, trip details and vehicles are synced to faerdi’s server so they are available with your account across devices. Raw GPS route points are stored locally and are not included in ordinary account synchronisation.
Who is responsible?
The data controller is DIGIMO, Ørbækvej 867, 5863 Ferritslev, Denmark. Contact support@faerdi.com with privacy questions or to exercise your rights.
What information does the app process?
- Account: email address, profile name, password during sign-in (transmitted over HTTPS and stored as a password hash), session information and any password-reset codes.
- Trips and vehicles: start and end times, addresses, distance, trip purpose, whether a distance is estimated, and vehicle name, registration number, fuel/type and default selection.
- Location: when you start or automatically record a trip, the app processes GPS coordinates and timestamps to calculate distance and determine start and end addresses. Raw GPS route points are stored locally on the device and are not synced to faerdi’s server.
- Saved places: place name, address, coordinates and matching radius are stored locally on the device.
- Diagnostics: local troubleshooting events may include timestamps, permission status, GPS accuracy, speed and distance between readings. You can view, clear or share them manually from the app; they are not automatically sent to faerdi.
- Scheduled reports: if you opt in to email reports, the recipient address, frequency, time and language are stored. A report may contain dates, times, start/end addresses, kilometres and vehicle registration numbers for business trips.
Why and on what legal basis?
Account, mileage log, synchronisation and reports you request are processed to perform the agreement to provide the service to you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). When you enable automatic trip detection, background location is processed based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), expressed through your choice in the app and the required iOS permissions. You can withdraw that choice at any time in the app settings or iOS Settings. Limited security and operational information is processed where necessary for our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f)).
faerdi does not use driving data for advertising or profiling. The app is not intended for emergency calls or as legal proof of mileage reimbursement. Always review and correct automatically recorded trips and reports.
Synchronisation and other services
- Simply.com: hosts faerdi’s website and backend and acts as a processor for personal data handled on faerdi’s behalf. Simply.com’s public materials state that its data centres are primarily in Denmark, and also elsewhere in Europe. The precise location and subprocessors used depend on the hosting product and data processing agreement. Simply.com publicly lists, among others, B4Restore (backup-related services) and Ping IT (deletion/destruction of phased-out storage media and hardware) on its compliance page. The hosting provider may also process technical connection and server log information for operation and security.
- Apple: iOS services may be used to turn coordinates into addresses. When the app requests an address from a location, the coordinates are processed by Apple’s location service. See also Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- MotorAPI: if you choose a vehicle-registration lookup, faerdi’s server sends the registration number to MotorAPI to retrieve vehicle details. The registration number is stored in your mileage log only if you choose to save the vehicle.
- Email: password-reset codes and reports you have subscribed to are sent through faerdi’s hosting/email setup. Email is delivered over the internet and may be less protected than data in the app; use only an address you control.
The current app version does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. Information is not shared with your employer; you decide whether to share a report with anyone else.
Retention and deletion
Account data, trips and vehicles in faerdi’s active server database are kept until you delete your account. You can initiate deletion in the account settings in the app. Deletion removes the account and its associated data from the active database. It also clears faerdi trips, vehicles, saved places, GPS route points and diagnostics from the device on which you perform the deletion.
Otherwise, local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Reports already sent may remain in your or the recipient’s email inbox; deleting your faerdi account does not recall delivered emails. Simply.com’s public information does not specify a fixed deletion period for backup copies for this hosting product. Backups and technical server logs may therefore be subject to the hosting provider’s operational and rotation periods; we have not verified the exact duration. Information that must be retained by law is deleted when the retention obligation ends.
Security and transfers
Connections to faerdi’s server use HTTPS. Passwords are not stored in readable form, and the app’s session key is stored in iOS’s secure key storage. Server data is scoped to the signed-in account. The service providers listed above may process information; contact us for further details about their current processing locations and transfer safeguards.
Your rights
Under data protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of processing, and object where the law provides that right. Contact support@faerdi.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency or your local supervisory authority.
Changes
If our processing changes materially, we will update this policy and, where relevant, notify you in the app or on the website.
